Your mission that drives sustainability in logistics

CargoBeamer is shaping the future of intermodal rail freight in Europe. As a Project Portfolio Manager (f/m/d), you strengthen our project portfolio management (PMO): you set priorities, establish KPI-driven targets, create management transparency, and ensure decisions are made fast—based on data and real progress.

This is a 15-month fixed-term role (parental leave cover) starting from June, with a possibility of permanent employment.

What you’ll do

1) Define & prioritize the project portfolio

  • Define CargoBeamer’s high-priority project portfolio.
  • Build a prioritized list of initiatives aligned with company strategy.
  • Clarify scope, dependencies and ensure proper staffing.
  • Propose new initiatives to close white spots in key development areas.
  • Quantify and make the overall portfolio budget steerable.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across CBIO and CBAG.

2) Steer delivery across quality, time & financials

  • Steer the portfolio and top projects against quality, time and financial targets.
  • Coach topic owners on PM/PMO best practices (influencing without authority).
  • Set up KPI-based targets per project and keep progress measurable.
  • Improve effectiveness: collaboration, speed, governance, clarity.

3) Performance dialogues & issue management

  • Lead a cross-functional steering platform.
  • Establish a steady drumbeat for status, decisions and critical topics.
  • Unblock roadblocks, manage interdependencies and prepare decisions.
  • Promote data-driven work and an action-oriented execution mindset.
  • Act as a knowledge carrier bridging teams and functions.

4) Executive reporting & stakeholder management

  • Create board-level decision materials: crisp, structured, decision-ready.
  • Align perspectives across departments and stakeholders.

Your Background & Skills

  • Degree in business, finance, transport or related fields
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience (PMO, project management, consulting, scale-ups, etc.)
  • Strong business acumen and solid portfolio/PMO skills
  • Ability to build trust and influence without authority
  • Analytical, KPI- and data-driven mindset
  • Strong communication skills and proven cross-functional collaboration
